Just like many places of the house, bathrooms are very dangerous places for children. There are many things you can do to make the bathroom a safer place for your child, although they should never be allowed into a bathroom without you. Some bathroom safety rules:

  • Remove sharp objects from the bathroom completely
  • Keep medicines out of reach
  • Use a non slip mat to prevent falling
  • Never, under any circumstance leave your child alone in the bath

Another way to keep your baby safe in the future, is to constantly be teaching them bathroom safety. From the first time you take them into the bathroom, be sure to show them how to be safe while in the bathroom. Being an example is one of the most effective ways to teach children bathroom safety. As your child gets older and begins to use the bathroom by himself or herself, teach them even more about bathroom safety. Effectively teaching your child bathroom safety will take several years, but every time you take them into the bathroom is another chance for a bathroom safety lesson.
