Construction safety signs are a common sight while driving down the freeway. They warn of everything from falling rocks to soft shoulders. But they are also used in any construction project to remind workers of proper safety techniques or to warn the public about potential hazards. Construction companies are required by law to warn the public about certain threats, but other signs are sometimes posted to warn of other potential hazards.

Some examples of common construction safety signs include signs that warn about hazardous materials. These can be biohazards that come from organic waste, or they can be toxic chemicals that are used as solvents or cleaners. Or they can be extremely flammable materials. There are also construction safety signs that warn about falling objects or objects being thrown by machinery. Other construction safety signs simply remind visitors and workers to wear safety gear, such as a hard hat.

Construction safety signs are specifically designed to be easily visible and easily understood. Generally they use bright colors like orange and red and contrast then with black and white to make them easily readable. Some construction safety signs can also be color coded depending on the type of warning being issued. Sometimes words are removed in favor of images that depict the warning or message. These are especially useful for people who do not read well or do not speak the native language.
