Hunting safety practices are being extended to all parts of a hunting party. This includes dogs for those who like to take their canine friend with them on hunting trips. Hunting vests have long been a recommended practice for all hunters in order to prevent accidental shootings. But now dog hunting safety vests are becoming popular with people who hunt with dogs in order to protect them too.

These vests can serve two purposes. The first is to protect the dogs from brush, briars, and thorns. As the dogs run back and forth seeking their prey, they can get pretty scratched up by the sticks and foliage. Dog apparel is used to protect a dog's torso and prevent scratches and cuts. The other important function of these products is done by those vests that are bright orange. Wearing hunter's orange allows other hunters to identify people and dogs so that they are not mistaken for prey. This helps to cut down on accidental shootings from mistaken identity.
